Do you want to get started on the Tree Planting Challenge in your Club?

Use this as a starting place.

  • Set a goal for tree planting and announce it.
  • Peruse the Rotary District 9810 1.2 Million Tree Planting Challenge Guide (Victoria, Australia)
  • Sign up for ESRAG's newsletter  (click on the envelope on the top of this screen).
  • Contact your District Governor to see if there is a District Environmental Sustainability or Tree Planting Challenge Committee in place.
  • Volunteer to be your Club's Tree Planting Liaison to record trees planted on the 2017-2018 Trees Planted Counter
  • Start an Environmental Sustainability Committee in your club.
  • Check out the ongoing Rotary Club projects.  You could imitate or join.
  • Ask the schools and charities your club supports if they would like to have trees planted on their grounds.
  • Consider a fund-raising project in partnership with tree nurseries selling tree seedlings with planting instructions. 
  • Call your local experts (city and county urban forestry and park districts) to find out how Rotary can partner with local projects.
  • Use the Land Trust Alliance's Land Trust Finder to find a Land Trust in your area (USA)
  • Check out global tree planting resources and initiatives your Rotary Club may want to support.
  • Encourage your District's tree planting efforts.
  • Think of ways to engage Interactors, Rotaractors, school children and families.
  • Facilitate arranging Club programs on the many aspects of trees and environmental sustainability.
  • Check out the materials available for presentations to clubs and schools.
  • Write to to share your projects and get information.
  • Have fun!

Remember, we are not just planting trees, we are growing trees!
