Alas the Honolulu Presidential Conference has been cancelled

The Honolulu Presidential Conference has been cancelled because of the COVID19 Pandemic.

Celebrating our Island Planet
World Environment Day June 5, 2020

Sadly our in-person celebration has been cancelled.  We will be sending the following message to all registrants.

Meanwhile, ESRAG's leadership team is exploring alternatives to honor the 50th Anniversary of World Environment Day. If you would like to help us develop an online, web-based celebration, please contact

Dear Presidential Conference Registrant,
As the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, Rotary has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020 international convention in Honolulu, Hawai’i – June 6-10.   This also includes the 5 June Pre-Convention Presidential Conference and the Evening RAGTime Party at the Waikiki Aquarium.

This decision was not taken lightly and a great deal of time, energy and analysis went into making it. Following the guidance of the world’s most trusted sources, including the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all options and potential alternatives were carefully considered. In the end, without confidence in our ability to protect convention-goers and the public from the risk of COVID-19, nor concrete predictions as to when restrictions on travel to the United States will be lifted, cancellation became the responsible choice.
By canceling our event, we will help mitigate the number of cases in the short term to allow our health systems to respond most effectively.   Just as Rotary International will do, we intend to refund all registrations and will follow-up shortly with instructions on how to secure your refund from ESRAG.]

Thank you for your ongoing interest in  the work of ESRAG and your commitment to further developing your knowledge and expertise about ensuring environmental sustainability.  While, at this time, we won’t be able to meet in-person, we look forward to finding other ways to celebrate our work together. Read our newsletter stream and follow us on Facebook,, for updates and opportunities.

Meanwhile, to slow the spread of COVID19, and 'flatten the curve,' stay home except for essential services, keep six feet away from others when you do go into public, and wash your hands- frequently, vigorously and thoroughly - for 20 seconds.  Most importantly as Rotarians learn to connect differently with the world, service to your neighbor, while keeping yourself safe is part of who we are.  Stay safe and virus free.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Christopher Puttock
